Foundation Phase
Nurseries and schools in Wales encourage children between 3 and 7 years of age to be creative and imaginative. This makes learning more enjoyable and effective.
Fresh Claim
When an asylum seeker has had their claim reject but new evidence becomes available which has not been considered by the Home Office, the asylum seeker may submit a new asylum application.
Hate Crime
Hate crime or hate incidents include any behaviour that someone thinks was caused by hatred of disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious belief or race. This could include damage to your property, attacks, graffiti or other abuse.
HC2 Certificate
This certificate covers the cost of types of health treatment, such as dental costs, eye care costs, healthcare travel costs or wigs and fabric supports. A HC2 certificate must be applied for.
Honour Based Violence
This is violence which is committed where the victim is felt to have shamed the family or community by breaking a code of ‘honour’. This may be because of perceived cultural or religious belief but the violence is against the victim’s human rights.
Hosting
Refused asylum seekers are not able to access housing support from local authorities or rent private properties. However, some small charities run ‘hosting’ schemes which may allow refused asylum seekers to stay in a spare room for a short period of time.
Human Rights Act 1998
This UK law provides rights for everyone living in the UK. More information about the rights contained in the law is available here:

Humanitarian Protection
This is a type of immigration status granted by the UK Government. This status may be given where the UK Government does not think you are eligible for refugee status but you do deserve protection.
On this website, we have included Humanitarian Protection as a type of ‘refugee status’ as your entitlement to access services in Wales will be very similar.
Immigration Bail
Any migrant lawfully in the UK but without leave to remain (including asylum seekers) is on immigration bail. In most cases, asylum seekers will be given a ‘BAIL 201’ form which confirms that they are on immigration bail.
